Shasta Daisy
USDA Zone: 4-9
(Formerly Chrysanthemum maximum) No sunny border would seem complete without the familiar presence of Shasta Daisies. This is an especially compact selection, with masses of single white flowers, each with a yellow center. Excellent for cutting. Also great for edging, or in mixed containers. Removing faded flowers will greatly increase the blooming time. Divide plants in the spring every 2 to 3 years to maintain vigour. Shasta Daisy is a well-behaved garden hybrid and should not be confused with the weedy Ox-eye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare).

Blanket Flower
USDA Zone: 2-9
Blanket Flowers are valuable for their very long season of bloom. This selection blooms profusely even in the first year, forming a low, compact mound. Flowers are large flame-orange daisies with golden-yellow tips, appearing from June into the autumn. Thrives in hot, sunny sites. Attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant once established. Not the best choice for heavy clay soil that will stay wet through the winter. Removing faded flowers will encourage constant blooming. An All America Selections and Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner.

Goldsturm Coneflower
USDA Zone: 3-9
Among the best border perennials available, this is a selection of one of our native North American wildflowers. Plants make a bushy, upright clump with a profuse display of brown-eyed, golden-orange daisies from midsummer through the fall. Seedheads have good winter interest. A terrific choice for mass planting, combining especially well with ornamental grasses. Excellent for cutting. Removing faded flowers regularly will greatly increase the blooming time. Plants may be easily divided in early spring. Attractive to butterflies. A former Perennial Plant of the Year in 1999.

Growth Rate Medium | Delphinium Blue Butterfly
Traditional, herbaceous, short-lived perennial. Grown for their showy, single blooms, which are an attractive addition to mixed borders. Palmate, deeply cut or divided mid-green leaves. The stems terminate in flower spikes. Smaller less impressive flower spikes grow from the leaf axils lower down the main stem. Cup-shaped, bright blue flowers, sometimes with a feathery eye in the center and a stubby spur at the back of the flower. Flowering period is early summer with possibly a second flush in autumn. Flowers last well when cut and can be used for flower arrangements. Caution is advised when handling as all parts of Delphinium may cause discomfort if ingested and foliage may irritate sensitive skin. Caution. Harmful if eaten.
