Charles Joly’ matures into a large, upright shrub (about 10–12′ tall and wide). Add double magenta flowers that are extremely fragrant, and it’s no surprise that this Lilac was given the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. This lilac has open-branched habit and bright green foliage. Blooms mid-season, typically in mid-May. Thrives in cool summer climates. A lovely spring accent, screen or border specimen. Deciduous.
